Chef Bae

I'm the gluten-free, dairy-free guest at the restaurant who always gets the sad scoop of sorbet while everyone else gets a shmexy dessert, so my favorite part of being a chef is creating healthy, dietary-friendly recipes that everyone CAN eat and actually WANTS to eat. My background is in corporate food product development, and I've worked with brands like Starbucks, Nestlé, and Panera Bread to develop better-for-you products for international audiences. Today, I bring that same philosophy to my private chef work for celebrity clients in Los Angeles, my show Overheard Eats, and my TV appearances on Food Network and America's Test Kitchen.

For me, wellness means ingredients with integrity and food that never sacrifices taste or satiation. I love using unique ingredient swaps and flavor combinations to break the stigma that healthy food has to feel like a compromise. That same belief drives the non-profit cooking program I founded in Los Angeles and New York City, where I teach children and families how to create and maintain healthy, balanced meals on a budget, because eating well should feel doable and delicious for everyone.

Self

What sparked your wellness journey? How does your background (family, experiences) inform your approach to wellness?

I grew up in a family of 5 with 9 food allergies when no one was catering to the dietary-friendly market. I saw this need and niche for food everyone CAN and WANTS to eat at an early age. My parents worked so hard in their day jobs and would come home from work and have to make 5 different dinners for all of us. Seeing this challenge, I started spending time in the kitchen developing delicious, healthy and satisfying recipes that my entire family could enjoy together. Since then, I have dedicated my life to healthy food product development.
